Lunar Landscapes
Welcome to the lunar section of my gallery. Here, you'll find a collection of images capturing the Moon in all its phases and details. From the rugged terrain of craters to the smooth plains of maria, these photos showcase the beauty and complexity of our closest celestial neighbour.
Explore the wonders of the lunar surface as seen through my observatory in County Meath, Ireland. Enjoy the journey!

Set the alarm and got up this morning at about 02.40 to watch the Lunar total eclipse. 28/9/15. Sky was clear, although a bit hazy, but took a few images. The first, of the partial phase, was taken through the bathroom window without a tripod. The other was taken using a tripod. Exposure for the first was about 1/25s while the other was about 1 sec and taken with a Canon 300D Digital Rebel SLR with a 500mm f8 lens.

This exposure of the total phase was about 1 second

Using my new Lynxx PC camera on 9th September 1992.. Still getting used to the interface but liking the opportunities it provides.

Just a few images taken of the moon showing the terminator changes over the space of a day. The first was at 17.05UT, the second was taken at 18.20 UT on the same day while the third was taken the following day at 19.07 UT

The sunrise on the Jura mountaints can be clearly seen Dec 19th 2007

A notable change in one day. Mare Imbrium almost completely sunlit. Dec 20th 2007

I decided to try my hand at a mosaic of the Moon. This is my first attempt at any mosaic so it was a learning experience. I took 10 frames of various parts of the Moon using my SXV-H9 camera through my 254mm LX200 working at about f7. The exposures were 0.003 seconds and monochrome. Images were acquired using AstroArt4 and stitched together using MaxImDL. Happy enough with the first attempt although more care could have been used in the alignment. I may try my hand at some deepsky objects. 19th Dec 2007
